New4Old is composed of 6 work packages (WP’s) including management and common dissemination activities. The specific WP’s of this project are detailed below:
Work package 2: Creation of a network and joint communication platform of European flagship projects.
This WP will create a network of Renewable Energy Houses i.e. showcase buildings incorporating a series of technologies similar to the REH in Brussels. During the project 5 Renewable Energy Houses will be implemented. For each of the REH, a detailed energy concept will be developed outlining the possibilities for integrating available Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency technologies into these buildings.
The energy concepts will then be promoted to equipment suppliers in order to familiarise them with the possibilities REH will offer in terms of visibility for investors. A market study of REH in all EU Member States will be drawn up preparing the group for a continuation of their activities within the network after the end of the project.
In each of the countries where the five REH are located, a high-level press and media event will be organised in close collaboration with the respective national actors in order to raise awareness among politicians.
Work package 3: Marketing and communication campaign on building integration of RES & RUE measures.
The consortium made a brochure on the lessons learnt from the experiences of the REH in Brussels.
It also includes the first monitoring results after one year of operation. One comprehensive brochure per REH is foreseen.
Each brochure will contain information on the actors involved as well as the planning and energy concept. Study tours will be organised in each REH; at least one guide per REH will be trained to guide groups. Moreover, Open Days will be organised to welcome the general public in the Renewable Energy Houses.
A flyer has been produced to spread the concept of the REH network. Press releases and press conferences are also foreseen.
Work package 4: Development of technical guidelines for integration of RES & RUE in historic buildings.
Technical guidelines for building designers (architects and engineers) will be set up. These will study several internal and external building features from different countries as well as building services and draw conclusions from the generic details.
The energy concept process of the REH in Brussels will be used as a basis to develop a methodology for RES & RUE on how to develop energy concepts in other traditional buildings.
Work package 5: Thematic workshops & Final conference.
Five workshops covering the following topics will be organised:
- REH heating and cooling
- RES electricity production in buildings
- Building integration in historic buildings
- Energy efficiency
- Building management systems
Moreover, the project will organise a workshop for real estate agents and real estate investment funds to raise awareness amongst architects, building developers and building engineers as well as a final dissemination conference in Brussels.
